Where to start from ?

Janina
Meet Janina, my daughter, here 1+ year old (and already a car-buff). This shot was taken back in September 99, when I finally started on the project. As you can see, the interior has seen better days. Mohair has turned to "mouse hair"

My Roadie has one peculiarity: the books say all 46 R-masters came with a woodgrained dash, except convertibles on which the dash was painted body color. Now this is not a ragtop, and I swear the paint on the dash is 100% original !

Rust
No fresh steel here either. In fact,  I found fresh steel on the inside of firewall, under the insulation, consisting of  layers of some kind of bitumen board, applied directly on bare steel. Boy it was tough to get rid of all the insulation prior to blasting. All surfaces seen here were covered with it. No wonder 40's Buicks are so quiet.
At work
This beauty came with most extras of the time, including:
- Sonomatic radio
- Weather Warden heater/defroster
- Fog Lights
- Spotlight on driver's side
- Front bumper guard

Did you know that in Roadmaster the front fenders & hood were some 6" longer than in Super, due to the bigger 320 cid engine ?

Yeah, all screws and bolts are seized for good. You may manage to undo them a half turn before they break! WD-40, impact screwdriver, oxygen torch were the most usable aids. The phillips head door hinge bolts almost got the better of me...
