October 2005 - Under Construction - literally speaking!

Sorry folks, no work on Buick. Since the early September, I have been building a garage (which I should have done many years ago). The free space on our real estate is limited, so this garage will only house two cars, the Buick and the Cobra. The daily commuters shall stay outside. I am hoping to finish the construction by the end of this year. That would give me January-March to work on Buick. In April, we are going to start building a new house, and that will take several years. You know how I am - gotta D.I.Y. everything! The house we currently live in, was built in the 1960's, and is rotten (and too small). We decided it's more feasible to build a totally new house than renovating the old one.

My motto, when working with cars, has been: "If it's made by man, I can learn how to do it"
That motto is just as valid in the construction work. With the garage, I will try to do everything by myself, except for the electricals, being illegal to do by yourself. And of course, every now and then, I have called my parents or my father-in-law to give me an extra hand. They have all done this in their youth, and can offer good advice, too.  Although sometimes I would rather just take the extra muscle without any advice.  You know, the proper way of doing things is sometimes different from "it's always been done this way"

The next time I will post an update here is the time when the cars move in.  Hopefully still within this year.
