Spring 2002
First, I owe you an apology for not updating my pages for ages. I have not been resting on my laurels, but most of what I've done, don't lend itself for nice pictures. So I thought better skip all blaablaa until there's something to shoot really. But as you see, even I couldn't wait any longer. OK, I confess, I did waste some time swapping Vortec heads etc. on my Cobra, too...
I have overhauled all the peripherals around the engine: Starter Motor (new bushings), Fuel/Vac Pump (all internals new), Water Pump (all internals new), and the distributor (Pertronix Ignitor inside, new cap & rotor). I went thru the steering components as well, fixed those jammed front shocks, etc. I've also continued with rust repairs, finished penel beating on fender skirts and front fenders. Got started with doors and rocker panels. I have done so many things during the spring I can't remember. As for the pics, I wanted to show you this item I got from eBay. It's a piece of a N.O.S Gorvin Seat Cover Set. According to the label on the box, they fit 1942-48 Buick 76-S and Cadillac 62-series fastbacks, and Olds 96 & 98 Custom Cruiser. An American would say they look "challenging" (rather than ugly), and while these will not make it a #1 show car, just try to beat these in style. At first I thought I will wear these while the kids are on board, to protect the real upholstery, but it may turn out just the opposite ;-)
Another eBay item is an old Santay adjustable split sunvisor. I trial fitted a Fulton visor first, but thought it was too wide. This one I like. It is actually made of deep green translucent plastic with stainless trim. The seller was even kind enough to send new acorn nuts afterwards! Sorry I can't find pics of it, and now it's in pieces.
